terms of service
the plain-english rules for using verif·ai. it's free, runs on your device, and helps you spot likely ai-generated content — but it can be wrong, so please read the accuracy disclaimer below.

acceptance
by installing or using verif·ai, you agree to these terms. if you don't agree, please don't use it. verif·ai is operated by ogbuilds, a uk-based studio.
what verif·ai is
verif·ai is a free chrome extension that detects and highlights likely ai-generated images and text on the web page you're viewing. it runs entirely on your device — there are no accounts, and nothing about your browsing leaves your browser.
acceptable use
use verif·ai lawfully and reasonably. in particular, you agree not to:
- use it for any illegal purpose, or to harass, defame, or harm anyone;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the extension's source beyond what the law permits;
- interfere with, abuse, or attempt to overload any service verif·ai relies on;
- misrepresent verif·ai's output as a definitive or certified ruling on whether content is ai-generated.
no warranty on detection accuracy
ai detection is best-effort, not proof. verif·ai reads embedded content credentials where they exist and applies an on-device heuristic to text. these signals can be missing, stripped, spoofed, or simply wrong. a result can be a false positive (flagging human work as ai) or a false negative (missing real ai content), and a missing credential never means an image is human-made.
you must not rely on verif·ai for high-stakes decisions — academic integrity rulings, hiring, legal, journalistic, financial, or any outcome that affects a person's rights or reputation. treat its output as one input to your own judgement, never the final word.
intellectual property
ogbuilds owns the verif·ai software, name, and brand. these terms don't transfer any of that to you. you may use the extension as provided, but you may not copy, rebrand, or redistribute it as your own.
the content you scan stays yours — verif·ai doesn't claim any rights over the pages you view or the images on them.
third-party services
the free tier sends nothing to third parties. we plan to add an optional “deep scan” that would send only the images you explicitly choose to a hosted detection service. if and when that launches, your use of it will be subject to its own terms, and we're not responsible for third-party services we don't control. it is not part of the free tier today.
limitation of liability
verif·ai is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. to the fullest extent permitted by law, ogbuilds is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any decision you make based on verif·ai's output. as verif·ai is provided free of charge, our total liability to you is limited to £100. nothing here limits liability that cannot be excluded under law.
governing law
these terms are governed by the laws of england & wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of england & wales.
changes
we may update these terms from time to time. we'll change the date above and, for material changes, note it in the extension or on this page. continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
